ROCKFORD HARVEST FESTIVAL

10/18/2013

The Harvest Fest in Rockford was the weekend after the Meijer show. Sharon Berg had a tented booth set up on Sat and Bobbie Lee was there with her. Together they talked to the passers-by about the different tools used in cleaning and preparing the gourds, different techniques used. Sharon demonstrated wood carving and how to inlay jewels while Bobbie was wood burning tangles on her gourds. Since they were showing demo's the $50 both fee was waived. Bobbie sold 4 of her pieces and was thrilled, this was her first sale of a gourd she had made. Sharon also sold some fall themed gourds and could have sold more if we  accepted credit cards. Along with their gourds for sale they had a table displaying all the various tools and paints used and a sampling of the different type of gourds there are.  The people were very receptive, most walked through the tent and were amazed at all the unique gourds for sale. All in all it was a good day.
