Leaf Lamp Shade
Supply list:
- Lamp Base: choose this first, size of base will determine what size gourd you will use. You can find lamp bases at thrift and antique stores, Walmart. You want a base that has an extender on top for finial.
Larger Lamp base; use larger gourd
- Canteen Gourd (9-10 inches or any other type of gourd you choose to make lamp shade)
- Woodburner
- Woodburning tip to burn straight line (spear tip)
- Dremmel or rotary carving tool
- Cleaning ball to clean out gourd
- Filigree Point Burr for cutting and to clean up edges of cuts and cut hole in top for extender/finial
- Ink Dye: Tan, Spring Green
- Acrylic Paint- Black
- Tape to tape on pattern
- Spray varnish to finish gourd
- Leaf/branch pattern- Carrie will provide (you can order Stick N’Burn pattern for Tree Lamp from www.welburngourdfarm.com if you choose. I just cut out stencils and drew extra leaves on freehand.
- Scissors
- Leaf Stencil for additional leaves- Carrie will bring some
- Pencil for drawing on additional leaves
- Chip brush for painting large black areas, smaller brush for small areas, fine tip applicators for branches and small areas and cotton swabs for larger green areas
- Heat Gun
