Coloring a Gourd
One of the design aspects of decorating a gourd is how to color the surface.  There are many ways of staining the surface.  Influencing your decision could be whether the gourd is to be used indoors or outdoors.   

Leather dyes, shoe dye, alcohol ink, paint, wood stain, spray varnish, varathane are just a few methods of finishing / sealing a gourd.
